Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) supremo Nawaz Sharif is set to return to Pakistan in October, as confirmed by party President Shehbaz Sharif after a meeting in London. Shehbaz Sharif stated that Nawaz Sharif will lead the election campaign upon his return, although a specific date for his return was not confirmed.
Family sources had informed Geo News prior to the meeting that Nawaz Sharif is expected to return to Pakistan on October 15 of this year, based on discussions among Nawaz, Shehbaz, and close family members in London.
The decision to delay Nawaz Sharif's return until mid-October was influenced by considerations of the weather and the suitability for large-scale political gatherings. It was not solely due to the announcement by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding elections within 90 days.
Shehbaz Sharif's arrival in London and his discussions with Nawaz Sharif led to the decision to return around mid-October. The date of October 15 is currently finalized, though further discussions may occur.
The Sharif family's lawyers and political aides had initially advised Nawaz Sharif to return to Pakistan immediately after concluding his Europe and Middle East visit. However, there were differing opinions within the PMLN, suggesting that a return after mid-September, following the retirement of Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Atta Bandial, might be more strategic.
Nawaz Sharif has criticized the judiciary, particularly Chief Justice Bandial, for their involvement in legal cases against him and their perceived support for Imran Khan and PTI. He accused the judiciary of hounding him and favoring PTI in various matters.
Nawaz Sharif's return to Pakistan will mark a significant development in the country's political landscape, with implications for the upcoming elections and political dynamics.
